Do I lose control over my assets that are titled in the name of my Living Trust?

Adele Small Harris

Many times I get questions about whether you lose control of your assets in a Revocable Living Trust. The answer is no. Matter of fact, you have complete control over the assets in the Trust. You can invest however you see fit. In addition, the taxes get filed “business as usual” because the Trust is transparent and utilizes your own Social Security number. In addition, you can change the trustees at any time. You can revise, amend, and, typically, revoke the instrument completely. So there’s no loss of control while in a Revocable Trust.
